For my clients, I monitor the options market in real time and notify them on WhatsApp whenever institutions are buying significant positions. To ensure that the alerts I send are both timely and valuable, I define a 'significant position' as trades involving unusually large volume—typically at least 10 times the average daily volume for a particular strike—or when the notional value of the contracts exceeds $500,000. I also look for open interest spikes and trades executed at or near the ask price, as these can signal strong institutional interest. This process helps my clients receive only the most relevant and actionable information.
On April 1, 2025, when IREN was trading at $6, I noticed heavy buying of far out-of-the-money calls at the $10 and $25 strikes, naked, expiring on January 16, 2026. Supporting data for this trade, including screenshots of the options flow and trade logs, are available for review upon request. This transparency helps reassure group members that all alerts are backed by concrete, verifiable market activity.
The second screenshot shows the options chain from November 3, 2025, when IREN had reached $72. In the image you can see how the $10 calls had increased 62-fold, while the $25 calls were up 247X. To help clients maximize these kinds of gains, I recommend regularly monitoring unrealized profits and setting price targets where it makes sense to scale out of positions. For example, some members may choose to sell part of their contracts once they've doubled in value, then let the remainder run with a trailing stop. This approach can help protect profits while still allowing for further upside if the trade continues to outperform. Having a clear plan to manage risk and take profits is vital, since options can be volatile and prices can change quickly.
In other words, if someone had invested approximately $4,000 in that position, by November 3 they would already have been a millionaire. However, it is important to note that returns of this magnitude are extremely rare and achieving them involves a significant amount of risk. Most options trades do not result in such outsized gains, and investors should always carefully consider their risk tolerance and the possibility of losing their entire investment when entering these kinds of positions.
Thank you to everyone who is part of this trading group!
